Set up your own domain

You have the option of using your own domain in your online gallery and making Portraitbox invisible to your visitors. Your visitors will then see no indication in the address bar or in the shop that Portraitbox is a shop system for photographers.

Important! If you need a whitelabel domain for the subdomain www. (e.g. www.meinfotostudio.de) and this should also be accessible without a subdomain (meinfotostudio.de), then enter the CNAME entry for both www. and * (asterisk).

Order whitelabel function

To make Portraitbox invisible to your visitors, simply book the whitelabel option under the menu item My account / My contract (top right).

When ordering the white label function, enter the domain under which you would like to operate your online gallery. This can be your main domain (e.g. www.meinstudio.de), but also a subdomain of your domain (e.g. shop.meinstudio.de).

IMPORTANT: As we have to register the booked domain with our hosting provider and therefore incur costs for us, you can switch again after one month at the earliest. If you have any questions, please call us on 05254/9362411 or send us an e-mail.

Do you already have a domain?

You must already be the owner of the registered domain. If you don't have your own domain yet, you can order it from a hosting provider:

Of course, the domain can also be booked with any other hosting provider.

Redirect your own domain

If you have booked the white label function for your domain, you can prepare the forwarding. Please enquire with your hosting provider beforehand whether it is possible to store a so-called "CNAME record".

CNAME record

To point your domain or subdomain to your online gallery, make a CNAME record. All requests to this subdomain (e.g. shop.meinfotostudio.de) will then go to Portraitbox.

Please note that if you activate the CNAME entry, all settings and services such as DNS, e-mail, FTP and WWW for the selected subdomain will be lost and can no longer be used.

Here you will find instructions for the most important web hosting providers:

IONOS / 1&1

Please follow these instructions and then enter "portraitbox.com" under "Alias". With 1&1 you can only enter the CNAME entry for one subdomain (e.g. www. or shop.).

United Domains

Jimdo offers you the option to change the CNAME entry for the subdomains you have set up. With this change, you can redirect your subdomain to any other address and make external applications accessible under your domain.

Other hosting providers

If you have registered your domain with another provider, ask them how you can enter a CNAME for your domain.

IMPORTANT: It can take up to 48 hours for a CNAME entry to be known to all Internet servers. Please be patient. Your domain will then point to your Portraitbox online gallery.

Activate redirection in the online gallery

If your redirection has been successfully entered and the domain points correctly to your online gallery, you still need to activate it in the admin area. To do this, go to Settings / Homepage settings and click on Activate whitelabel domain.

Whitelabel function & SSL certificate

If you use our whitelabel function and run the gallery on your own domain (e.g. www.fotostudio-meier.de), we will book a free SSL certificate for your domain.
